MarchOnHarrisburg has conducted thousands of lobbying meetings in the State Capital and in legislative district offices across Pennsylvania since 2016.
We lobby to educate and move our State Legislators toward action. We take the time to explain our issues, why they are important, and what we expect them to do.
Lobbying is not just a tactic for the rich and powerful. If we don’t talk with our public officials, then only the rich and powerful will talk to them, and our public officials will only be responsive to the rich and powerful because they never hear from us!
Lobbying is a necessary tactic to forge the consensus we need within the Legislature and to shepherd our bills through the legislative process. Lobbying is one of our core tactics, but, of course, lobbying is not enough to win against the forces of corruption. Our community powered lobbying is backed up by the strength of our statewide movement and our more aggressive tactics like nonviolent direct actions.
Do not be intimidated as you lobby, and please talk with your chapter leaders and fellow MoH people on Slack as you dive into lobbying!
